Summer Weekend In The Hamptons
Posted on August 20 2019
If you live anywhere in or near New York City, chances are you’ve spent a summer weekend Out East. The Hattie Banks team enjoyed a nice little getaway this past weekend in Montauk and it couldn’t have been a better way to start to say goodbye to summer. While you may not have time to get out to The Hamptons before this summer is up, save this post for next year! Here are our must see’s and do’s for your summer weekend trip:
Eat & Drink
Location: 2025 Montauk Hwy, Amagansett, NY 11930
Perfect for your post-beach summer food fix. We recommend the steamers, chicken fingers (dipped in their Caesar dressing) and cheeseburger. Oh, and also the sweet potato fries.
Ditch Witch Coffee
Location: 23 Ditch Plains Rd, Montauk, NY 11954
Ditch Plains is the surf beach of Montauk, and they’ve got a coffee/food truck in the parking lot. Grab your morning cup before your beach walk (Montauk is very active), or before you park it in the sand to watch the surfers.
Location: 4 Old West Lake Dr, Montauk, NY 11954
We highly recommend going early so you can snag an outdoor seat at the fire pits to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. Be sure to put your name in early for a table, though, because it books up fast and you have to try their Summer Spaghetti.
Montauk Beach House
Location: 55 S Elmwood Ave, Montauk, NY 11954
Two things: outdoor lounge beds and Bee Sting Pizza. You want both of those things, just trust us on this one.
Location: 11 S Emery St, Montauk, NY 11954
This Italian restaurant will always be one of the best meals you have on the island. If you're a fish person, we've heard incredible things about the Swordfish, and we can speak quite fondly on the burger's behalf.
Location: 16 Navy Rd, Montauk, NY 11954
Your typical, casual beachfront restaurant. Enjoy lunch or dinner right on the beach, but be sure to plan ahead. Navy Beach fills up pretty fast and they take reservations two weeks out.
Location: 65 Tuthill Rd, Montauk, NY 11954
Duryea's Lobster Deck is certainly where you should go for a lobster roll. Also, check out their fresh and farmer's markets while you're there!
We were able to go to multi-medium artist Taylor Slater’s most recent collection’s launch party at Montauk Beach House while we were there, but even if she’s not sharing a new collection, we highly recommend checking out her work. This is one of our favorite pieces!
Right across from Soul Cycle in town, Adam Mar has a carefully curated collection of surf and fashion items for both men and women. Some are his own label, and others are outsourced, but all are luxury beachwear and we’re in LOVE.
Nibi is where you're going to go when you want to indulge your bohemian vibe. They've got a very simple selection of amazing pieces that can easily take you from day to night while you're in Montauk.
For the dreamers, vintage lover and unique gift shoppers. Wyld Blue literally has everything you need from clothing, to shoes, kids apparel and homewares. Their beautiful collection can keep you busy shopping for hours.
Great collection of soft clothes that bring that post-beach, comfy feeling to life. Whalebone's got a lot of personality throughout their clothing collection, events calendar and magazine published every other month.
One of the quieter spots in Montauk on Shutter Island has old Montauk vibes and a great view if you're looking for a different beach to try for the day.
Surf Lessons at Ditch
After you grab your coffee at Ditch Witch, consider a surf lesson. Even if you're terrible, it makes for a great vacation story and it's also a lot of fun.
Shop in Amagansett
Amagansett is home to some of the cutest boutiques situated in the quaintest of towns. If you're not experiencing beach weather, or just feel like shopping, we recommend a nice day trip to Amagansett.
Nothing like exploring a fresh farmer's market and getting to know local vendors when you're somewhere new!
If you know someone with a truck and a permit, you’re in luck. This isolated beach allows you to drive on and set up shop wherever you want in the sand.
For the tourists in the group, a quick drive-by of Montauk lighthouse is a must-do. There’s also a horseback riding company on the way, so we’re not opposed to recommending you take enough cash to stop for a ride on your way back to town. It’s cash only, we will only make that mistake once.
